Question: How ofter should I have an oil change
I have a 2000 honda civic, how often should I have an oil change?

Read your manual carefully and it will tell you. Besides that you need to know what kind of condition your car is in. Well maintained cars do not need oil changes as often as most people think. Over the last 20 years we have seen the ads telling us that 3000 miles or 3 months. Hmmm, who started telling us this? Well of course those who have something to gain by us all changing oil more often.
Your manual probably says one thing for normal service and another for hard service. Most of us are normal service people. My first car I babied with changes every 1500 miles for the first 10 changes then every 3000 miles.
The new data shows that oil not only lasts much longer but actually improves a little over the first week of use. No idea why but if you've read this far.
Always use the oil of the service grade required or higher (SM, SL, SJ) then change it every 5000 to 7500 miles depending how hard you drive it. Also, every year if you are a light driver even if you only have 1 mile in it.
There, you see I didn't stop at just two cents as the gentleman above but went ahead and gave a whole 3 cents worth.
I say this after doing copious reading over the last 30 years and experience with my own cars. Right now my BMW only gets changed when it says to and it is usually between 11,000 and 13,800 on full synthetic Castrol (I think) at the dealer.

Benny since you have a Honda like mine, do you know where the PVC value is located on the engine?
BTW, use synthetic oil & change it once a year. (don't listen to the oil guys, it drives them crazy. Heat is the killer of oil and synthetic has a very high temp coefficient rating that was designed for air craft a long time ago.
